movies, pictures, expression

Since life of pi, the movie, I was stunned by the graphical power of movie.  I never felt such incredible visual feat other than disney's anime and 宮崎駿 的 cartoons.   I watched another movie, mad max fury road, that gave me the same impression this year.  The difference is that life of pi used a lot of CGI, Mad max the fury road did not.  In face, it's a total contrast, the campaign boasted that instead of CGI, they used traditional,  real physical stunts!  It was truly fast and furious.  The third movie gave me the same feeling was the secret life of walter mitty.  It used some CGI to create imaginary sequences in the early stage.  But it did not abandon the real physical beauty of the  surroundings.  As the story progressed, the real world took the front role.  It eventually bring the audience to see majestic scenery.

However, I find one thing very interesting.  The story arch of these three movies are extremely simple.  The dialogue used in the movies is elegant maybe, but simple as well.  The mad max fury road brought the dialogue down on the dirt surface.  Life of pi used exclamation and monologue most of the time.  The secret life of walter mitty was consisted of awkward silence and awkward conversation.  This is interesting.  Because I would usually consider dialogue as king in movies.  That's what drives movie in terms of story, character, and mood usually.  But here, pictures delivered impact beyond words.
